At Bigham Cable Construction, Inc., as an Aerial Groundhand, you’ll play an important hands-on role supporting our Aerial Telecom Crew with installing and maintaining overhead fiber and telecom systems. Each day, you’ll help keep projects running safely and efficiently by providing tools and materials to crew members, moving and positioning equipment, completing resident notifications, and maintaining clean, organized company vehicles. You’ll assist with hand digging, follow proper traffic control procedures, and support your team in all weather conditions. This is an active, fast-paced role where you’ll learn valuable skills, contribute to meaningful work, and help keep communities connected.
What you’ll do
- Provide tools, parts, and materials to crew members as needed
- Reposition or move bucket trucks, trailers, and equipment as directed
- Complete door-tagging and resident notifications prior to starting daily construction activities
- Stock, clean, and maintain all company vehicles and equipment
- Perform hand digging using shovels and mechanical tools
- Direct and flag traffic flow in accordance with local DOT guidelines
- Work overtime, travel, and participate in on-call or after-hours responsibilities as needed
- Perform work in all weather conditions
- Complete other duties as assigned

What you’ll need
- To be 18 years of age or older
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
- Valid state driver’s license (cannot be Provisional) with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass all required pre-employment screenings
- Certified pole climber or willingness to become certified
- Previous labor experience in telecommunications is a plus
- Routinely able to work with arms above shoulder level at heights, in confined spaces, and in remote locations
- Routinely able to climb stairs, bend, stoop, stand, walk, operate vehicles and heavy machinery, and lift up to 55 pounds
- Occasionally able to use a ladder, keyboard, and mouse
