At Bigham Cable Construction, Inc., the Lead Safety Telecom role serves as the senior safety champion for both field and office operations across Asheville, NC/Boone, NC/Hickory, NC/Ellenboro, NC/Tryon, NC, overseeing multi-site safety programs, mentoring safety teams, leading incident investigations, coordinating audits and regulatory readiness, and developing targeted training that strengthens day-to-day practices. You’ll partner closely with leadership to present strategic insights, drive continuous improvement, roll out new tools and systems, and represent the company in safety forums and with regulators, all while fostering a strong, proactive safety culture across every level of the business.

What you’ll do
- Oversee and manage safety programs across multiple locations, ensuring compliance and consistency in Asheville, Boone, Hickory, Ellenboro, and Tryon
- Mentor, train, and support safety analysts and field safety specialists to strengthen overall safety performance
- Lead thorough investigations into serious incidents, near-misses, and trends to identify root causes and drive corrective actions
- Coordinate internal safety audits and ensure readiness for regulatory inspections and external evaluations
- Develop, update, and deliver customized safety training programs tailored to field and office needs
- Prepare and present strategic safety reports, metrics, and recommendations to senior leadership
- Implement new safety technologies, tools, and systems to improve efficiency and reduce risk
- Serve as the company’s representative in safety forums, industry groups, and regulatory discussions
- Partner with field leadership to reinforce daily safety expectations, jobsite compliance, and best practices
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing safety data, monitoring trends, and engaging teams in proactive solutions
- Promote and sustain a strong, positive safety culture throughout all departments and levels of the organization
What you’ll need
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- Ability to pass pre-employment screening
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3+ years of experience in safety leadership, field safety operations, or data-driven safety program management
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards, utility safety regulations, and field safety conditions
- Professional safety certifications such as CSP, CHST, OSHA 30, or equivalent preferred
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional safety initiatives and positively influence safety culture
- Excellent communication, investigation, and coaching skills
- Proficiency in interpreting safety data, writing reports, and implementing corrective action plans
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel regularly to job sites across Asheville, Boone, Hickory, Ellenboro, and Tryon
- Must maintain a satisfactory driving record while in the position, as consistent safe driving behavior is essential when training or setting an example for others
