The Aerial Telecom Field Supervisor oversees daily field operations for aerial telecommunications construction and maintenance projects. This role is responsible for supervising crews, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines. The supervisor acts as the primary link between field crews, management, and clients.

What you’ll do

  • Supervise and coordinate aerial telecom crews performing installation, repair, and maintenance of aerial fiber, coax, and copper networks
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and local/state requirements
  • Conduct daily job briefings, tailgate meetings, and site inspections
  • Monitor productivity, quality of work, and adherence to project timelines
  • Read and interpret construction prints, maps, and work orders
  • Perform quality control inspections and address deficiencies promptly
  • Coordinate traffic control, permitting, and right-of-way requirements as needed
  • Communicate progress, issues, and material needs to project management
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate field personnel
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and damage claims; complete required reports

Work Environment

  • Outdoor field environment
  • Exposure to weather, traffic, and elevated work areas
  • Travel between job sites required
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools, vehicles, and equipment

What you’ll need

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of experience in aerial telecommunications construction
  • Prior supervisory or lead crew experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of aerial plant construction (strand, lashing, over-lashing, pole transfers, make-ready)
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards and DOT regulations
  • Ability to read construction drawings and utility maps
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • First Aid/CPR certification
  • Experience with fiber optic installation and testing
  • Bucket truck and line-truck operation experience

  • Ability to manage multiple crews and priorities
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Proficient with mobile devices, reporting apps, and basic computer systems

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to climb poles and work at heights
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors for extended periods
