Niel’s Fugal is seeking a Senior Director, Safety to provide strategic leadership and oversight for all safety programs across a multi state territory. This position is responsible for setting the long-term safety vision, coordinating with Executive Leadership, Area Managers, and all stakeholders to drive a world-class safety culture, ensure best-in-class performance, and guarantee full compliance with all relevant programs, policies, and OSHA regulations.
What you’ll do
- Create a highly engaged, dynamic, safety culture across two brands operating in Utah, Arizona, Oregon, and Washington.
- Implement and maintain proactive processes, tools, and training that will optimize safety performance and ensure regulatory compliance
- Drive a culture of safety throughout the organization to reduce injuries and incidents
- Oversee the design, implementation, and delivery of health and safety programs across all areas of the business
- Partner with operational leaders to develop standards and strategies that reduce the safety, regulatory and financial risks
- Develops and manages the safety plan/strategy in support of the corporate strategy
- Develops and manages the safety budget, training, and compliance reporting
- Monitors changes to health and safety rules and regulations and integrates them into company standards, processes, and practices
- Monitors health and safety compliance and oversees incidents management and reporting
- Conducts quality assessments of health and safety processes/practices and implements continuous improvement
- Ability to develop and sustain collaborative relationships throughout the organization
- Responsible for the development and administration of policies to establish and promote maintenance of safe and healthy working conditions within the company
- Ensures that company facilities and practices are in compliance with government safety regulations
- Manage, coordinate and facilitate in the following functions: Issue safety equipment, conduct safety training programs, conduct onsite inspections of premises or equipment, investigate accidents or injuries
- Monitor and enforce Health & Safety/OSHA and DOT Compliance while interfacing with employees
- Participate in and/or facilitate all program activities, including but not limited to regular conference calls, workshops, compliance audits, reporting, etc
- Conduct periodic audits to measure compliance and overall program effectiveness
- Evaluate safety performance of employees and subcontractors; document violations
- Review all inspection reports, establish and enforce safety guidelines and procedures
- Review injury/illness and non-injury incident investigation reports
What you’ll need
- To be 18 years of age or older
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- 12+ years’ of relevant experience and general knowledge in construction safety including bucket trucks, digger derricks, and fall protection
- Thorough knowledge of DOT/FMCSA and OSHA regulations
- Strong documentation skills and proven analytical and problem solving abilities in a changing environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and comfort interacting with a variety of employees at all levels of the organization with the ability to influence the actions of others
- Experience providing safety training, and implementing safety initiatives
- Demonstrated experience presenting training material and leading project groups, including employees of all levels, vendors and customers
- Ability to prioritize workload, handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work self-directed with a sense of urgency
- Must be proficient with PC skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
- Must carry valid Driver’s License

- Routinely:
- Able to travel domestically (approximately 50-60% of the time) by car and air
- Engage in standard office activities such as standing, sitting, and using computers for extended periods.
- Occasionally: exposed to outside weather conditions
