At ​Niels Fugal Sons Company, LLC, as a Permit Technician, you will be responsible for obtaining, tracking and coordinating all permit requirements for our work throughout Utah. This involves City as well as customer contacts with reporting requirements to internal stakeholders as well as external.

What you’ll do

  • Interpret and understand engineering standards, improvements standards, construction standards, maps and legal descriptions.
  • Ability to manage your own time in coordinating and prioritizing shifting needs
  • Respond and assist in the resolution of development related inquiries and complaints.
  • Perform data entry and coordinate routing of various permits, plans and maps using specialized database/permit tracking programs
  • Perform  various administrative, reporting, billing and accounts receivable tasks.
  • Available for Conference calls throughout the day with various stakeholders
  • Perform minor construction plan check to ensure compliance with local submittal requirements, development conditions, improvement standards, construction specifications, and city ordinances
  • Issue and prepare permits related to construction activities to ensure compliance with city and state standards, development conditions, improvement standards, construction specifications, and city ordinances.
  • Perform permit-related monetary transactions, accounts receivable coding, billing inquiries, and invoicing.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relations with the development community, city staff, county staff, UDOT staff and others contacted during course of work.
  • Receive, organize, file, and maintain documents and/or data as well as read, interpret, input, and analyze data.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

What you’ll need

  • To be 18 years of age or older 
  • Minimum 1+ years of relevant work experience, formal trade, or technical skills training
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company
  • High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or up to two years of basic understanding of permitting processes
  • Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree in a related field is preferred


Physical abilities & exposures

  • Routinely: Work alone in remote locations, use keyboard and mouse
  • Occasionally: Climbing stairs, Standing, Walking, operates vehicles
