At Globe Communications, LLC, as a Senior Mechanic, you’ll lead and perform advanced maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics on the company’s fleet of vehicles and equipment. In this role, you’ll mentor junior mechanics and oversee complex repair tasks to ensure all fleet operations meet safety, efficiency, and regulatory standards. What you’ll do
- Oversee repair or develop maintenance plans for vehicles and equipment, leveraging cost/benefit analysis to optimize operations
- Conduct advanced diagnostics to troubleshoot complex failures in vehicles and equipment
- Lead inspections and provide strategic recommendations for proactive maintenance
- Transport vehicles and equipment to other locations
- Dismantle, repair, and reassemble vehicles, trailers, and heavy equipment such as trackhoes, backhoes, and other specialized machinery
- Oversee and assist other mechanics.
- Supervise routine maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with operational standards and timelines
- Establish and enforce protocols to maintain vehicles in optimal condition, including cleanliness and fueling
- Test and evaluate the functionality of vehicles and equipment, ensuring adherence to safety and performance standards
- Oversee the maintenance of a clean and organized workspace
- Other duties as assigned
What you’ll need
- To be 18 years of age or older
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
- Valid state driver's license with Class A CDL (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
- Mechanics may be expected to provide their own standard tools. The shop will supply large-diameter and specialty tools as needed
- A minimum of 3 years experience as a mechanic, preferably with a focus on fleet vehicles or commercial equipment
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Proficient in diagnostic tools and equipment
- Ability to travel and stay overnight as needed.
Physical abilities & exposures
- Routinely: Climb stairs, lift between 26 and 55 pounds, bend, stoop, fine hand movements, squeeze, stand, use portable ladders, walk, work in confined spaces, work with arms above shoulder level, operate heavy machinery, and operate vehicles
- Occasionally: Use keyboard & mouse, lift greater than 55 pounds, work alone in remote locations, and at heights
