What you’ll do
-
Perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground

Test, activate, and troubleshoot the network’s circuit post-installation

Ensure all splicing operations meet strict customer and industry standards

Upgrade existing fiber sheaths with new fiber sheaths

Mid-sheath fibers for entry on loose tube or fiber sheaths

Cut away sheath from existing cables to reach faulty connections, and remove sheath and insulation from newly installed cables and wires

Provide guidance to other splicers, as needed

Complete basic daily maintenance of vehicles, including fluid checks

Document work performed through daily production reports, including marking up maps and keeping correct material usage records

Perform other duties as assigned
What you’ll need

Must be 18 years of age or older
-
Legal authorization to work in the United States for this company

High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience

Valid State driver's license (non-provisional) with an acceptable driving record
-
Ability to pass a DOT physical exam resulting in a valid medical card
-
Minimum of 2 + years of current hands-on fiber splicing experience
Additional qualifications

Routinely: Work at heights; occasional entry into attics and crawl spaces; work independently in remote locations; operate vehicles and heavy machinery; squeeze, perform fine hand motions, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs, and lift up to 55 lbs without assistance.

Occasionally: Work in confined spaces; use ladders and gaffs for climbing poles; operate keyboard and mouse.

The wage range for this position in California is $35.00 – $45.00 per hour, depending on exact work location and relevant experience.
