What you’ll do

• Perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground

• Test, activate, and troubleshoot the network’s circuit post-installation

• Ensure all splicing operations meet strict customer and industry standards 

• Upgrade existing fiber sheaths with new fiber sheaths

• Mid-sheath fibers for entry on loose tube or fiber sheaths

• Cut away sheath from existing cables to reach faulty connections, and remove sheath and insulation from newly installed cables and wires

• Provide guidance to other splicers, as needed

• Complete basic daily maintenance of vehicles, including fluid checks

• Document work performed through daily production reports, including marking up maps and keeping correct material usage records

• Perform other duties as assigned

What you’ll need

• Must be 18 years of age or older

• Legal authorization to work in the United States for this company

• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience

• Valid State driver's license (non-provisional) with an acceptable driving record

• Ability to pass a DOT physical exam resulting in a valid medical card

• Minimum of 2 + years of current hands-on fiber splicing experience

 
Additional qualifications

• • Routinely: Work at heights; occasional entry into attics and crawl spaces; work independently in remote locations; operate vehicles and heavy machinery; squeeze, perform fine hand motions, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs, and lift up to 55 lbs without assistance.

  • Occasionally: Work in confined spaces; use ladders and gaffs for climbing poles; operate keyboard and mouse.

Compensation

• The wage range for this position in California is $35.00 – $45.00 per hour, depending on exact work location and relevant experience.
