Sr Manager Operations reports directly to the Director of Operations and oversees all aspects of field and office operations, including construction, engineering, project delivery, planning, workforce management, financials, and compliance. This role ensures that projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget while upholding company standards, building customer relationships, and adhering to regulatory requirements. A key component of this position involves strategic leadership.

What you’ll do

  • Operations Leadership: Lead field and back-office operations across underground, aerial, splicing, engineering, and maintenance teams.

  • Client & Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for jurisdictions and customers, maintaining key relationships and brand standards.

  • Operational Strategy & Planning: Translate goals into clear team expectations to meet deadlines, safety targets, and financial objectives. Execute plans to optimize construction, workforce deployment, and resource utilization.

  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with engineering, permitting, procurement, and PMO teams to ensure seamless project delivery; provide operational insight for bidding and forecasting.

  • Financial Management: Oversee P&L statements, operational metrics, and financial reporting, escalating variances and mitigation strategies to executive leadership.

  • Safety & Compliance Leadership: Drive a zero-incident safety culture by establishing vendor standards, holding managers accountable for audits and job hazard analyses, participating in incident investigations, and conducting field walks.

  • Talent & Subcontractor Oversight: Engage in hiring, training, and team development while managing subcontractor performance, workforce ratios, and contractual alignment.

What you’ll need

  • Experience & Education: 10+ years in telecom construction management. Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent advanced industry training.

  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of telecom construction timelines, project requirements, and safety regulations.

  • Certifications: OSHA Competent Person, Trench & Excavation, Confined Space, and OSHA 10-Hour.

  • Leadership & Skills: Proven leader with strong communication, goal-setting, and team development skills. Self-motivated with excellent time management and commitment to customer service.

  • Technical & Schedule Flexibility: Proficient with Google Workspace, MS Office, and mobile devices (iOS/iPhones/iPads). Willing to work extended hours, evenings, and weekends as needed.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Routine: Office and field environments; driving, sitting, standing, walking, and operating electronic devices.

  • Occasional: Climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, crawling, and lifting up to 25 lbs. Outdoor work on uneven terrain (dirt, concrete, gravel) and in adverse weather conditions.
