At North Sky Communications, LLC, we are looking for a Traveling HDD Drill Mechanic to be the "Master of Machines" for our heavy-duty drilling fleet. If you’re a problem-solver who thrives on the road and knows your way around a Ditch Witch AT120 or an American Auger DD240, we want to talk to you.

You are the "go-to" expert. When a drill is down, the project stops. You’ll be the hero traveling to active job sites to keep our specialized drilling equipment—and our crews—moving forward.

Pay range: $28 - $44 + per hour depending on experience

*Flexible Base Location: This is a traveling position. The selected candidate may be based out of our Sherwood, OR or Ephrata, WA office location; or within a reasonable proximity to either location.

  • Road Warrior: Travel across the beautiful Pacific Northwest to support active drilling sites in real-time.
  • Problem Solver: Diagnose complex electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues on the fly.
  • Preventative Pro: Don't just fix it when it breaks—help our operators use the equipment better to prevent downtime before it starts. Such as performing routine maintenance such as oil changes, brake inspections, and tire rotations
  • Full Fleet Support: When the big drills are purring, you’ll help keep our trucks, trailers, and backhoes in peak condition.
  • Team Player: Be able communication company wide with all of our teams, maintain a clean and orderly workspace and other duties as assigned.

What you’ll need

  • Mechanical Mastery: You have at least a year (or much more!) of experience with hauling, loading and securing heavy equipment. Must be proficient in diagnostic tools and equipment

  • Drill Knowledge: You’ve spent time under the hood of large rock drills or all-terrain HDD equipment.

  • Technical Smarts: You’re a wizard with diagnostic tools and understand the "why" behind hydraulic and electrical failures. Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex equipment issues in the field.

  • Independence: You’re comfortable being the primary point of contact on a job site and working without someone looking over your shoulder.

  • The Basics: You’re 18+, have a valid driver’s license (CDL A is a huge plus!), and can pass a drug screen/physical.  DOT Medical Certificate exam

  • The Miscs: Authorization to work in the United States for this company, High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
