This position is responsible for the completion of projects or programs from a financial and profitability standpoint and oversees all aspects of the project life cycle for a major telecommunications contractor. The Finance Manager will be responsible for a variety of projects and programs and will rely heavily on experience and judgment to plan, organize and successfully complete projects to budgeted profitability.

As a Finance Manager you will coordinate activities of the project and represent the company as a liaison between construction teams, internal support, and the customer, schedule meetings and manage the workflow of all work projects issued.

 

Financial Reporting Responsibilities:

  • Profitability Analysis:  Identify path the profitability, as well as project(s) delays and fail points requiring correction.
  • Job Costing:  Define costs, resources of the costs, and funding sources for the entire project lifecycle
  • Cost Control:  Track overspending or inefficiencies within specific projects
  • Risk and Issue Management:  Identify, analyze and resolve project risk with the team
  • Weekly financial calls with all profit centers to coordinate effectively
  • Accurate Forecasting: Historical cost data to create more reliable budget and resource plans for new projects
  • Variance Analysis:  Compare the actual costs to the budgeted costs for each job
  • Budgets per projects:  Set up revenue and costs effectively per internal policies in regard to chart of accounts
  • Cash Flow:  Manage accounts receivable and invoice per the customer terms on time and accurately 
  • Work in Progress:  Track accumulated costs of materials, labor and overhead for real-time budget management
  • Manage change orders:  project value and modifications are tracked accurately
  • Weekly and monthly financial close:  Review all P&L's for accurate job costing 

 

Other responsibilities:  

  • Leadership:  Ability to lead teams, delegate tasks and collaborate
  • Regulatory Compliance:  Ensure projects comply with financial regulations and internal policies
  • Customer relationships:  Manage interactions and data throughout a project lifecycle, aiming to enhance client satisfaction, build loyalty and understand customer needs
  • Teamwork with coworkers for common goal success by collaboration and communication
  • Proactive decision making
  • Preparation of lien waivers
  • Decision making daily in the best interest of the company and team

 

Qualifications

  • Degree in accounting or an industry related field. Combination of education and experience in telecommunications field a plus.
  • Project Management Certifications are highly valued and preferred.
  • Ability to apply financial project management concepts, and methodologies.
  • Proficient in financial practices and principles.
  • Proficient in organizational systems.
  • Solid understanding of all construction documents, plans, specifications, addendum bid documents and reports.
  • Ability to collect, organize, disseminate, and analyze significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communications skills both written and verbal.
  • Problem solver and critical thinker.
  • Proven leadership in a cross functional team environment.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office Applications: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets).
  • Proficient in Technical Writing.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts (measurements in terms of distance, proportions, percentages, and area, and apply concepts of basic mathematics.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks with minimum guidance.

 

Physical abilities & exposures

  • Routinely: stand, sit, bend, and use hands and fingers, as well as reaching with hands and arms to spaces both high and low, lift or move up to fifty pounds when needed.
