The position of Manager Fleet Services will assist Director of Fleet Services in overseeing all aspects of leasing and purchasing of all trucks, equipment and small tools for the company.  The Manager Fleet Services will assist Director of Fleet Services present a three-to-five-year annual business plan that includes budgets for vehicles, equipment replacement and purchases for new growth. The position of Manager Fleet Service will establish, coordinate, and implement all trucks, equipment, and shop policy and guidelines for area operations to administer.  These shop guidelines will include preventative maintenance schedules and repair procedures for each area of operations and management team. The responsibility of maintenance and repair of assigned trucks and equipment will be the responsibility of each Area, Project and District Manager operating within the company policy and guidelines. The Manager Fleet Services will assist in the approval and repair of equipment based on the condition and warranty of the equipment.  The Manager Fleet Services position reports to the Fleet Services Director.

What you’ll do

  • Responsible for writing, evaluating, recommending and assisting the area operational structure in all equipment, truck, and shop maintenance policy and guidelines.
  • Responsible for assisting Fleet Director with annual fleet budget
  • Responsible for fleet assignment to divisional areas of operations.
  • Responsible for conducting fleet meetings to include various levels of leadership
  • Responsible for tracking all rental equipment and working to obtain various equipment rental agreements as needed
  • Supervises in house mechanics and Fleet Supervisors in multiple states
  • Extensive travel required.
  • Mechanical aptitude with strong mechanical knowledge and ability to problem solve complex scenarios as needed.
  • Work closely with Fleet Supervisor to minimize equipment downtime
  • Prioritize assignments to supervisor, analyst and mechanics as needed
  • Assigning work to and managing third party service vendors.
  • Facility management, assuring a clean and safe working environment for shop staff.
  • Assist in tracking all fixed assets and small tools upon repair or return to field.
  • Order supplies/equipment and parts as necessary.
  • Obtain estimates for repairs on vehicles and equipment when needed, including PDA’s.
  • Inspect all assets and equipment for repair cost and potential equipment abuse
  • Approves all vendors as needed and submits reports to leadership as needed
  • Develop a plan to schedule and visit each shop or area of operation at least two times each year and inspect maintenance facilities, trucks, equipment, and small tools.
  • Will be overseeing Maintenance and DOT programs
  • Evaluate all outside service providers for maintenance and repair at least annually
  • Will be responsible for employee disciplinary actions as needed
  • Performing employee evaluations
  • Approving vendor invoices
  • Increase Fleet productivity
  • Assists in service excellence and years of service awards for Fleet Department
  • Assists Fleet Supervisor as needed with maintaining a safe and clean shop environment
  • Review service reports and mechanical work orders as needed
  • Determine scope of repair responsibility between mechanics vs. third party vendors as well as analyst and supervisor.
  • Oversees hiring of additional fleet staff as needed
  • Other fleet related duties as assigned by manager

What you’ll need

  • To be 18 years of age or older
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company
  • Valid Driver’s License; CDL preferred but not required
  • Must be able to pass a background check and company drug screening.
  • Must be able to attend and pass all company required training as needed.
  • May be required to work after hours; on weekends or be on-call as work is needed to ensure work is completed.
  • May include working nights and holidays as needed.

 

Additional qualifications 

 

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Business Management or Finance is preferred. 
  • Extensive knowledge and background of transportation and fleet related laws and regulations with proven record of fleet management and asset inventory experience
  • Experience supervising or leading employees to be successful and grow within an organization
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with other employees of all levels and vendors if needed
  • Basic computer software knowledge of Microsoft excel, word etc.
  • Maintain a positive attitude with team and have good work ethics.
  • Maintain good public relations (interact with the public in a courteous manner)
  • Basic ability to use small tools/hand tools
  • General understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Must produce a high quality of work
  • Must be able to multi-task in an ever changing environment while meeting company goals and maintaining a positive and productive relationship with coworkers and direct supervisor.
  • Must have a good working relationship with field and office managers
  • Keep appropriate documentation (time cards, filing, DOT and PM records, etc.) Duties outlined in this position will require the employee to stand, crouch, sit, bend, use hands and fingers to handle or feel as well as reaching with hands and arms to spaces both high and low. The employee will be standing, walking, climbing, balancing, crawling, crouching, lifting, holding or stooping a moderate amount of time while on shift.

Pay Range: Annual salary range for the Manager Fleet Services position is $80,000 - $90,000, depending on experience.
