What you’ll do
• You will install and repair aerial telecommunications cable
• You will safely use hand tools and equipment such as; wrenches, drills, ladders, lanyards, saws, lashers, climbing hooks, and more
• You will safely operate mechanized equipment such as; bucket trucks, digger derricks, excavators, and more
• You will set up safety perimeter using signage, cones, safety barriers
• You will flag traffic when required
• You will understand separation and clearance regulations
• You will safely work aloft using climbing hooks and ladders
• You will maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures and policies.
What you’ll need
- To be 18 years of age or older
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
- Valid state driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
- Must be able to pass a background check and company drug screening.
- Must be able to attend and pass all company required training as needed.
- May be required to work over-time; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies or be on-call as work is needed to ensure work is completed.
- May include working nights and holidays as needed.
- May be required to travel in state or overnight as necessary to meet business and job requirements.
- Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position.
Additional qualifications
- Previous construction experience, preferably in the telecommunications industry
- Knowledge of established aerial cable installation procedures and techniques
- You are able to climb telephone poles and work in a bucket truck and work aloft and climb poles up to 40 feet
- You are able to perform all duties in telecommunications construction (such as; pole transfers, maintenance builds, new build, cable installation, over lash, and strand construction)
- You are able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as needed with or without assistance.
- Must know the color code system for cable pairs or be willing to lear
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Possesses strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to work with internal and external customers
- Must have strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively communicate with product vendors and customers.

Pay Range: The Lineman I Telecom hourly wage range is $21.00 - $31.00 depending on experience.
