At Professional Teleconcepts, we are seeking a highly driven and strategically minded Business Development Lead to spearhead our growth within the mission-critical hyperscaler and data center markets. This role focuses exclusively on expanding our market share in Inside Plant (ISP) infrastructure, specifically targeting large-scale low voltage, structured cabling, and high-density fiber optic connectivity deployments.

The Business Development Lead will identify, pursue, and secure lucrative infrastructure contracts with tier-one hyperscalers, colocation providers, and leading general contractors. You will serve as the primary growth engine for the data center connectivity division, leveraging your deep technical understanding of low voltage and fiber optic systems to build trust, navigate complex procurement cycles, and deliver customized, high-value solutions. You will own the full sales lifecycle from initial prospecting and relationship building to RFP strategy, contract negotiation, and handoff to the operations team.

What you’ll do

  • Strategic Pipeline Generation: Identify and qualify net-new business opportunities within the hyperscaler and multi-tenant data center ecosystem, maintaining a robust pipeline of high-margin low voltage and fiber optic infrastructure projects.

  • Account & Relationship Management: Cultivate deep, long-term relationships with key decision-makers, including data center facility managers, procurement directors, network engineers, and general contractors.

  • Technical Consultation: Act as a subject matter expert in client meetings, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of high-density fiber deployments (MTP/MPO, ribbon splicing), structured cabling (Cat6A), and overall ISP data center topologies.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with internal estimating, engineering, and operations teams (including Foremen and Project Managers) to ensure proposed solutions are technically viable, properly scoped, and accurately priced.

  • Market Intelligence: Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging hyperscaler connectivity standards to continuously refine our market positioning and value proposition.

 

 

The ideal candidate will need to be based in or around Columbus, OH or Philadelphia, PA and will require significant nationwide travel.  Salary range is $125-150,000 per year

What you’ll need

  • Sales & Negotiation: Proven track record of closing multi-million-dollar infrastructure, construction, or technology contracts. Exceptional negotiation and contract structuring skills.

  • Technical Acumen: Deep working knowledge of data center inside plant (ISP) infrastructure, including spine-and-leaf architectures, fiber optic testing and certification standards, and low voltage physical layer topologies.

  • Communication & Presentation: Executive-level presentation skills with the ability to articulate complex technical and operational concepts to both engineering teams and C-suite executives.

  • Strategic Planning: Ability to develop and execute comprehensive territory and account plans that align with broader corporate revenue targets.

  • Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce), bid management software, and standard office productivity suites.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Travel: Requires significant travel (often 50% or more) to client sites, active data center construction sites, and industry conferences across the country.

  • Hours: Flexible but demanding schedule driven by client needs, RFP deadlines, and varied time zones.

  • Conditions: Primarily a professional office/remote environment, but site visits require the ability to navigate active construction zones and adhere to strict data center safety protocols and PPE requirements.
