At Professional Teleconcepts we are seeking dedicated and detail-oriented BICSI Cable Technicians (Levels I and II) to support large-scale infrastructure projects within mission-critical hyperscaler data center environments. This role focuses on the physical layer deployment of structured cabling systems, including the placement, dressing, and termination of high-performance copper and fiber optic cables according to strict industry standards.
The BICSI Cable Technician will execute the daily on-site activities required for structured cabling deployments, ensuring tasks are completed accurately, safely, and efficiently. Under the direction of the Site Supervisor or Foreman, you will build pathways, pull media, and terminate connections while adhering to BICSI best practices. Tech II candidates will take on advanced termination, testing, and mentorship responsibilities, ensuring the physical infrastructure is delivered on time, to specifications, and within budget.
This role will involve 100% travel to project sites. Typical schedule is 3 weeks on, 1 week off with monthly home visits. Monthly hotel and per diem. Pay range is $30-$40 per hour based on experience.

What you’ll do

Cable Placement: Safely pull, route, and dress structured cabling (such as Cat6A and fiber optic trunks) through diverse pathways, including overhead ladder racks, cable trays, and conduit, without exceeding tension or bend radius limits.

Termination (Tech II Focus): Accurately terminate data jacks, patch panels, and 110-blocks using standard T568A and T568B color codes.

Pathway Construction: Install and secure cable support systems, including J-hooks, basket trays, and relay racks, in accordance with engineered drawings and BICSI standards.

Quality & Testing: Perform continuity testing, assist with advanced optical or copper certification, and troubleshoot basic physical layer faults (e.g., wiremap errors, crossed pairs).

Labeling & Documentation: Strictly enforce the labeling of all components, including cables, faceplates, and patch panels, ensuring alignment with project documentation and TIA-606 standards.

Mentorship & Teamwork: Tech II technicians will guide, support, and demonstrate proper techniques to Tech I personnel, fostering a collaborative and safety-first crew environment.

Risk Management & Safety: Adhere to strict security, PPE, and noise safety requirements. Promptly report identified risks or site-specific safety hazardsw.
What you’ll need
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Certifications: BICSI Installer 1 (INST1) credential required for Tech I. BICSI Installer 2, Copper (INSTC) or Optical Fiber (INSTF) highly preferred for Tech II. Active OSHA 10 certification is strongly desired.

Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of telecommunications color codes, structured cabling concepts, and standard industry practices (TIA/EIA, BICSI ITSIMM).

Tools Proficiency: Skilled in the use of standard telecommunications hand tools (snips, punch-down tools, wire strippers, crimpers) and basic testing equipment (tone generators, wiremappers).

Communication: Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and customer service skills to effectively interact with team members and site leadership.

Analytical: Basic analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve field problems related to congested pathways or termination faults.
Work Environment & Physical Demands

Hours: Must be able to work varied shifts, potentially including nights and weekends as required by project demands or maintenance windows.

Travel & Site Conditions: Requires travel to various field locations. Must be able to work in active data center environments and commercial construction sites.

Physicality: Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time, and the physical dexterity to navigate around server racks, overhead conveyances, and under raised floors. Must be capable of consistently climbing ladders, operating man-lifts, and safely pulling/lifting up to 50 lbs.
