What you’ll do

  • Accurately locate and mark underground utilities, both standard and complex, using flags, paint, and specialized detection equipment
  • Read and interpret utility maps to ensure precise identification of underground infrastructure
  • Document all locates thoroughly and maintain accurate records
  • Respond promptly and courteously to excavation notices from contractors and stakeholders
  • Communicate effectively with excavators, utility representatives, and internal staff to coordinate safe project execution
  • Troubleshoot challenging locates and assist in identifying high-profile or critical cable lines as needed
  • Perform light manual digging with a shovel when required to verify utility locations
  • Be flexible to work overtime, travel to project sites, and handle on-call or after-hours responsibilities as needed
  • Safely perform fieldwork in all weather conditions, maintaining professionalism and attention to detail

What you’ll need

  • To be 18 years of age or older
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screening
  • High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
  • A minimum of six months of locating experience
  • Valid State driver’s license (cannot be Provisional) 
  • Ability to safely operate company vehicles and travel to various project sites as needed.
  • Capable of working independently in remote or isolated locations, maintaining safety and efficiency.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks with arms raised above shoulder level, bend, stoop, stand, walk, and lift up to 55 pounds.
  • Comfortable using hands for fine motor tasks, including operating detection equipment and other tools.
  • Ability to use a keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment for documentation and reporting.
  • Occasionally able to use portable ladders, work in confined spaces, and climb stairs.
  • Flexibility to work in all weather conditions and adapt to changing environmental conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to follow safety protocols and company procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact courteously with excavators, utility representatives, and company staff.
