What you’ll do
- Assessing feasibility and safety for new builds
- Identifying obstructions and make ready work that must happen before construction can begin
- Perform comprehensive field inspections of OSP infrastructure, including aerial, buried, and underground fiber/copper networks, to ensure all elements meet construction, safety
- Collaborate with field crews, supervisors, project managers and customer teams to resolve issues identified during the inspection process
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction blueprints, network diagrams, GIS maps
- Generate precise inspection reports, documenting all findings, including defects, non-compliance issues, and required corrective actions (redlines)
- Working knowledge of OSP construction techniques, practices, and materials for aerial and underground utilities
- Proficiency with measurement tools, testing equipment, and electronic devices (e.g., tablet, GPS devices) for field data collection
- Follow installation milestones and support project activities as directed by management
- Work overtime, travel, and handle on-call or after-hours responsibilities as needed, and perform duties in all weather conditions
- Other duties as assigned
What you’ll need
- To be 18 years of age or older
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- Valid State driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
- 3+ years of relevant work experience in telecommunications OSP construction, installation, maintenance, or inspection (fiber, coax, copper)
Additional qualifications
- Quality control experience preferred
- Associates Degree in an industry related field or equivalent work experience
- Knowledge and understanding of the telecommunication construction industry standard practices
- Knowledge of Customer Installation Standards and Documentation
Physical abilities & exposures
- Routinely: work alone in remote locations, operate vehicle, squeeze, bend, stoop, stand, walking, climb stairs, use keyboard and mouse
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors in various weather conditions and environments.
- Occasionally: work at heights, use ladder, life greater than 55 pounds
