At TelCom Construction, under the direction of a foreman, this position is responsible for accurately locating utilities and safely performing any and all labor activities at a job site. In contrast to the Laborer position, the Locator’s primary responsibility is to be knowledgeable in operating the locating equipment and accurately locate utilities.

What you’ll do
- Possesses thorough knowledge of maintenance and operation of locator equipment
- Accurately locates and spots all existing utilities & obstructions in work area
- Maintains tools and equipment
- Hand digs holes and trenches
- Loads and unloads supplies
- Pot holes utilities
- Feeds cable in chute during plow procedure
- Sets utility pedestals and hand holes
- Shoots the pneumatic gopher
- Assists operator digging around utilities
- Assists in maintaining onsite equipment
- Performs ground restoration
- Performs general clean up
- Maintains accurate timecard
- Participates in weekly “Tool Box” meetings
- All other duties as assigned.
What you’ll need
- To be 18 years of age or older
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
- Valid State driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
Physical abilities & exposures
- Routinely: work alone in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, operate vehicle, squeeze, fine hand motion, bend, stoop, stand, walk, lift up to 55 pounds, use keyboard and mouse
- Occasionally: use portable ladder, work in confined spaces and climb stairs
The wage range for Locator Maple Grove is $23.00 - $28.00.
