This is an exciting opportunity to join the Training and Development Team at UtiliQuest, LLC as a Sr. Specialist Field Training. UtiliQuest, LLC a leading provider of quality underground utility damage prevention for over three decades. Our Training and Development Team plays a critical role in supporting our Field Technicians as well as our Operations partners and Center Managers. As a result, we hold ourselves to high standards and expectations. It is key that you are a self-motivated professional with strong work ethic, organizational and interpersonal skills, and are ready to add value to our team on day one.  

The Sr. Specialist Field Training reports directly to the Manager of Technical Training. In this role, the ideal candidate will be highly organized with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, while delivering quality instruction to new Field Technicians along with experienced Field Technicians.

The Sr. Specialist Field Training will provide direct learning support and training delivery to our Field technicians & Utility Line Locators primarily via an online platform along with Field Training. They will create learning experiences that support our business objectives and industry standards, using a variety of learning methodologies in partnership with UtiliQuest teams including Operations, HR, Safety, Fleet, Quality, Risk Management, and external Clients.

The Sr. Specialist Field Training will deliver training within their assigned region to a variety of employee groups and provide support to other centers, regions, or states across the organization, as needed, including via virtual platforms.  Our team is responsible for delivering a portfolio of learning programs at various stages of development in offices across North America.  You will work with other learning professionals and faculty to manage all stages of program delivery of both virtual and in-person learning programs including pre, onsite and post-program management.

What you’ll do

Responsibilities:

 

Field Training Delivery: Conduct hands-on training sessions for field staff, covering topics such as utility mapping, equipment operation, safety procedures, and industry best practices.

Mentorship & Coaching: Provide advanced mentorship, coaching, and developmental support to field personnel, helping build capability, confidence, and a culture of continuous learning.

Training Program Development: Take a lead role in collaborating with stakeholders to design, develop, enhance, and implement comprehensive training programs for field personnel involved in utility locating.

Leadership Support: Serve as a subject matter resource to field leadership, trainers, and operations teams on training strategy, onboarding, and employee development needs.

Safety & Compliance: Ensure that all field training activities adhere to safety regulations, company policies, and compliance standards.

Training Content Improvement: Continuously evaluate, improve, and update training materials to ensure alignment with industry standards, regulations, customer expectations, and emerging technologies.

Assessment & Performance Feedback: Implement and analyze assessment tools to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and individual performance, providing feedback, recommendations, and follow-up support to leadership.

Cross-Functional Partnership: Work closely with operations, safety, and leadership teams to identify training needs, address field challenges, and recommend performance improvement solutions.

Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of training sessions, participant progress, and relevant data. Prepare reports and insights to help measure the impact and effectiveness of training initiatives.

Trainer Development: Support the development and guidance of newer trainers, mentors, and field support personnel as assigned.

 

What you’ll need

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • One year or more of proven experience in utility locating or a similar field, with proven high quality results.

  • Willingness to do overnight travel as needed. (up to 50%)

  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to safety, both in terms of performance and attitude. We are looking for individuals who prioritize safety in their work, adhere to safety protocols, and actively contribute to creating a secure and healthy work environment. A positive safety mindset and a track record of safe work practices are essential for this role.

  • Industry Knowledge: Strong knowledge of utility mapping, equipment operation, and safety protocols.

  • Ability to deliver effective field training programs.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills

The wage range for Sr Specialist Field Training is $24.00  - $30.00.
