At VCI, as a CDL Driver | Laborer I on our Telecom team, you’ll begin building your career in telecommunications construction. In this entry-level role, you’ll support crews in installing underground fiber and infrastructure while gaining hands-on experience with equipment, safety practices, and job site operations.

What you’ll do
-
Assist with construction tasks such as loading/unloading materials, site preparation, and basic excavation

Support the installation of underground telecommunications cable under supervision

Operate company vehicles and basic equipment safely (training provided)

Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are clean and in good working condition

Follow all safety guidelines and participate in daily safety briefings

Assist with site cleanup and restoration, including grading and general labor tasks

Work closely with crew members and supervisors to complete projects efficiently

Learn how to read basic job plans and understand project scope over time

Perform other duties as assigned
What you’ll need
-
Class A or B CDL License
-
18 years of age or older
-
Authorization to work in the United States
-
High School Diploma or GED preferred
-
0–2 years of construction or related experience (entry-level candidates encouraged to apply)

Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced team members
-
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
-
Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and extended hours as needed

Strong work ethic and reliability
Physical abilities & exposures
- Routinely: work with arms above shoulder level at heights, in confined spaces and in remote locations, climb stairs, bend, stoop, stand, walk and lift up to 55 pounds, operate vehicle & heavy machinery
- Occasionally: use ladder, keyboard and mouse
