At VCI, as a CDL Driver | Laborer I on our Telecom team, you’ll begin building your career in telecommunications construction. In this entry-level role, you’ll support crews in installing underground fiber and infrastructure while gaining hands-on experience with equipment, safety practices, and job site operations.

What you’ll do

  • Assist with construction tasks such as loading/unloading materials, site preparation, and basic excavation

  • Support the installation of underground telecommunications cable under supervision

  • Operate company vehicles and basic equipment safely (training provided)

  • Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are clean and in good working condition

  • Follow all safety guidelines and participate in daily safety briefings

  • Assist with site cleanup and restoration, including grading and general labor tasks

  • Work closely with crew members and supervisors to complete projects efficiently

  • Learn how to read basic job plans and understand project scope over time

  • Perform other duties as assigned

What you’ll need

  • Class A or B CDL License 

  • 18 years of age or older

  • Authorization to work in the United States

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred

  • 0–2 years of construction or related experience (entry-level candidates encouraged to apply)

  • Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced team members

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions

  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and extended hours as needed

  • Strong work ethic and reliability

 
Physical abilities & exposures

  • Routinely: work with arms above shoulder level at heights, in confined spaces and in remote locations, climb stairs, bend, stoop, stand, walk and lift up to 55 pounds, operate vehicle & heavy machinery 
  • Occasionally: use ladder, keyboard and mouse
