What you’ll do
- Repair and maintain major cable systems and structures (lashing, aerial strand, pole transfers, guys, conversions, substructure, cable replacement) during outages, maintenance, and rebuilds.
- Read and interpret work orders, specifications, drawings, and cut sheets; complete daily production reports and As-Built documentation.
- Perform construction (digging, pole work, placing/removing poles and anchors, stringing wire/cable, laying conduit).
- Operate power equipment (compressors, diggers, aerial lifts, bucket trucks, digger derricks, excavators); use test equipment for gas checks; empty manholes. Safely use hand and power tools (wrenches, drills, saws).
- Dismantle, move, remove aerial/underground/building wire and hardware; connect wires/cables to terminals; assist with fiber/telecom cable installation.
- Respond to emergencies and outages requiring heavy construction; travel for storm response on short notice.
- Ensure public safety and compliance with governmental orders; maintain safe work areas for traffic flow; work safely at heights using hooks and ladders.
- Able and willing to work outdoors in inclement weather.

What you’ll need
- To be 18 years of age or older
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
- Valid state driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
- Previous Construction experience desired, preferably within the telecommunications industry
- Must have a valid driver's license and transportation
- Must have 2-5 years recent experience
- Extensive knowledge of approved practices, procedures, tools, and materials used in telecom line construction work.
- Identify differences in wire and cable colors.
- Required to lift moderately heavy equipment, such as telephone line; climb structures; and stand for long periods of time.
- Knowledge of first aid procedures and CPR.
- Ability to apply mathematics calculations (Example: fractions for use in drilling and pole sizing; calculating material and hardware length for assembling several pieces of equipment to poles of different thickness and circumferences.)
- Ability to work in a confined space and at high elevations (poles, hydraulic lift buckets, ladders.
- Ability to apply logical principles and thinking to solve problems and make decisions.
- Willing to perform work to support the values and goals of the Company.
Physical abilities & exposures
- Routinely: work with arms above shoulder level at heights, in confined spaces and in remote locations, climb stairs, use ladder, bend, stoop, stand, walk and lift up to 55 pounds, operate vehicle & heavy machinery
- Occasionally: use keyboard and mouse
The wage range for Lineman I Telecom is $25.00 - $37.00.
