At VCI Construction, as a Laborer on our Telecom Underground team, you’ll participate in all phases of underground construction, including loading, delivery, digging, and equipment operation. We are looking for experienced CDL Drivers / Laborers to join our team and help connect America. Laborer duties will include general labor duties related to telecommunications construction as directed by the Foreman/Supervisor.

What you’ll do as a CDL Drivers / Laborer
- A valid Class A commercial driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
- Perform construction tasks including loading, delivery, digging, and operating equipment
- Install underground telecommunications cabling
- Operate construction equipment, and maintain work areas
- Maintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement.
- Clearly communicate with all team members
- Complete daily production reports
- Help with site restoration efforts
- Perform work in all weather conditions
- Other duties as assigned
What you’ll need
- To be 18 years of age or older
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
- Previous experience safely operating various hand tools and utility trucks, is preferred
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions which can include but is not limited to: extreme heat and cold temperatures; inclement weather such as wind, rain, snow, sleet and dust as well as adverse driving conditions including wet roads, icy roads, and fog.
- Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment in a safe manner.
- 6 months of experience in the utility construction industry.
- Other duties as assigned
Physical abilities & exposures
- Routinely: work alone in remote locations and in confined spaces with arms above shoulder level, operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, fine hand motion, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 pounds
- Occasionally: use ladder, keyboard and mouse
Applicants are required to pass all company drug testing, DOT Physical, submit to a background check and adhere to all OSHA, state, city/municipality safety requirements and training provided by the company as required. Upon employment, will be subject to random drug testing in compliance with federal, state and company guidelines.
The wage range for Class A Laborer (CDL) is $20.00 - $26.00.
